Information and Policies
We at DanzAlma Academy promise to provide high-quality dance instruction and equal opportunities to all students. Students will be taught by qualified dance instructors. Our instructors will instruct according to safe dance practice. Our choreography and music selections will always be age-appropriate. The well-being of our students is always our first priority.
Dress Code
Dancewear is required for all classes and outfits are required to be purchased from the Academy’s dancewear store.
Students must wear comfortable form-fitting dance attire to display proper body alignment and allow for easy movement. No baggy t-shirts, baggy shorts, no jewelry or other inappropriate attire will be allowed. Hair should always be securely pulled away from the face.
Ballet Classes: Academy’s Ballet leotard and ballet skirt, pink or white tights, ballet shoes, yoga mat, and wraps, for Pre-Ballet and the students at the Beginner, Sub-Junior, and Junior Programs. Tutus are allowed for Intermediate and Advanced level students, as long as teachers are able to see the knees and the ankles. NO DANCE PANTS PLEASE!
Contemporary Dance Classes: Leotard, tank top, black tights, yoga pants (with the Academy’s logo and dance program color code), barefoot, and yoga mat.
Acro-Dance and Jazz Classes: Any type of form-fitting appropriate dancewear such as jazz pants, leotards, sports bra, or form-fitting T-shirt and tan jazz shoes or tan turners (half-soles). Dance attire color is determined by the program and level acquired by the student.
Hip Hop Classes: Hip Hop dance clothes (no jeans) and tennis shoes to use in the studio only. No street shoes are allowed.
Salsa Classes: Latin dance practice clothing and Latin dance shoes.
Attendance
Student’s progress depends on class attendance and practice at home. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can prevent a student and fellow classmate from moving forward. Students should be prompt and prepared for class. Classes missed due to injury, illness or vacation must be made up within four weeks following the absence if the Academy has been contacted beforehand. There will be no refunds for missed classes.
DanzAlma Academy will not necessarily close for snow days, regardless of if school areas are closed. If in doubt when in times of severe weather conditions, contact DanzAlma Academy for confirmation of classes.
